This report is one of the first attempts to systematically study integrated rural health networks.  It describes and analyzes in detail the cooperative efforts of selected rural providers.  In addition, the authors propose a definition of integrated rural health networks, highlight key aspects of network formation and development, review lessons learned from case studies, and discuss the public policy implications of these networks.
