The Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant program is administered by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy’s Community-Based Division to assist in the development of an integrated health care network, especially with network participants who do not have a history of formal collaborative efforts. The goals of this grant are as outlined by HRSA are: 1) to achieve efficiencies; 2) to expand access to, coordinate, and improve the quality of essential health services; and 3) to strengthen the rural health care system as a whole. In this project, we will identify factors that facilitate and impede success of such planning efforts, as well as the long-term sustainability of grantee efforts, based on discussions with past grantees.
