Access to a range of pregnancy and birth-related health care is limited for rural residents in the US, and exacerbated by workforce shortages. In this paper, our team addressed the limited understanding of the current landscape of rural midwifery providers, describing the availability of local midwifery care in rural US communities using a national survey we conducted of rural US hospitals.
